Produced for Máti galerie, the project “Material Image” have been driven by a visual research essentially based on practical experimentation. Exploring the potential of 3d textures, coloured glasses and different printed transparent papers layering, the series is a kind of freeze frame in a research process that is close to collage. First perceived as conventional paintings, the notion of depth is then understood and according to the angle of observation. In the middle, an organic “potato” shape (scouring for me) comes into dialogue with the rigidity of the frame as well as the hardness of the glass while blurring the lines of a purely material approach. The “Material Image” series consists of three square formats, each functioning as a separate entity or as a whole.
